Entrecote on the grill — timing

A whole rib steak (entrecote) on the charcoal grill, large piece.

What I did

  • 1.1 kg whole entrecote
  • 80 minutes total
  • Lowest brick height (closest to coals)
  • Turned at 20 minutes, then at intervals

Result

Not bad. Slightly more done than ideal — could be pinker in the middle.

Next time

  • Try a shorter total time — start checking around 65–70 min for medium-rare to medium.
  • First turn at 20 min is fine. After that, turn every ~15 minutes rather than every 20 — the heat is peaking by then and the side facing down cooks faster than the first turn.
